Question by : What is the typical height of the net at a paintball field?
I’m part of a group that is starting up a paintball team amy university. As I’m going through the materials that we will need, I’m thinking of the netting and how we would set it up. It would be an indoor field most of the time in a basketball gym. I see the standard sizes are 10, 12, and 20 feet. I’m just not sure what’s best for our group. We need something that portable and able to be moved out of the way and stored somewhere.

Best answer:

Answer by Andrew
Approximately 10-20 feet feet. Usually it doesn’t really make much of a difference, unless someone is either blind firing or intentionally shooting high it won’t go over. The fields are usually isolated though.

Best answer:

Answer by nerdcore
A degree in engineering would help.

The simplest way of doing something like that is having the various broken markers being similar make & model. For instance, you can piece together autocockers from various parts of other autocockers, or piece together a spyder from various parts of other spyders. Stuff like that. But if they’re all different guns, then i hope you’ve got a machine shop.

Question by Bivy: What is better for a spyder paintball gun?
Okay for christmas my boyfriend is spending A LOT of money on me. So, i want to get him a paintball gun. He has mentioned how much he likes spyder paintball guns and he wants a red one. I have looked up a lot of them but I don’t know what type to get like the brand and also I don’t know what is better a semi-auto or like an electric one. Please help.

Best answer:

Answer by nerdcore
Spyder is the brand name. The company name is Kingman.

All Spyders are semi-auto. All semi means is one trigger pull = one shot then the gun recocks itself for the next shot. Electronic ones just do it differently than mechanical ones, as in the trigger mechanism is controlled by a circuit board.

Anyhow, the top of the line Spyder right now is the Electra 09, runs about $ 180-190 new.

Keep in mind he’ll also need a tank & hopper, if he doesn’t have that stuff already. You can search for package deals or get the items separately. Basically, an electronic hopper like an Invert Reloader and any tank (co2 or hpa… hpa = compressed air, explanation can get complicated). Don’t forget a nice mask (again, if he doesn’t have one), like a VForce Grill or JT Proflex.

Question by : What is the limit for the length of a paintball gun barrel?
I have a tippman 98 custum paintball marker. It has a response trigger, and i have many dif. barrels all dif. lengths. ( custum, 12, 14, 18 in barrels) I use the 18in. barrel, but it has been giving me some problems with range and accuracy. I havnt used the other barrels lately, but i might start using them to see if there is a dif. But is there a length i should not go over? and is a flatline a great idea for woodsball?

Best answer:

Answer by nerdcore
Shouldn’t go over 16 inches. The longer the barrel, the more material there is to drag down the ball. The barrel is only supposed to set the initial trajectory and provide enough of a “runway” for the ball to gain velocity – after that, it doesn’t need the barrel. Technically, the ball only needs about 6″ to reach its potential velocity and gain an even trajectory. Any barrel length after that is to provide porting for a quieter shot, and convenience if you want to push aside brush with it (or wrap air bunkers, for speedballers).

Flatline is kinda meh. Gains a little distance because its S (or Z) shaped barrel design places a spin on the ball as it passes the barrel’s curve, giving it a boost. But the extra distance isn’t that much, and the ball loses accuracy the further it flies, due to its own aerodynamics and environmental effects like wind. Plus, it costs more than barrels that are just as good, if not better. It’s also not available in various lengths, and the shroud used with it adds more weight & overall bulk to your gun (without it, the barrel looks silly).

Question by Paintballhelp: Paintball.?
Well i want to start paintballing and i pretty sure im getting a 98 custom from tippmann. I know people say that its just a beginner gun not meant for speedball, etc. In my case thats perfect because i am a beginner. I wanted to get some things with it. I am getting it with the E-grip, and maybe a new barrel. I wanted to know of any suggestions for other upgrades that can help me start to get further into paintball. I really want to know of a good CO2 tank, and a mask. Thanks again. ( also where to buy would be helpful so far my best bet is Amazon)

Best answer:

Answer by Stampy Skunk
If your getting a 98 custom that is great they are very good markers….. they are very good for woods ball…. you can use them for speedball but you sould, and this is just my suggestion, get a response trigger for the 98 so when you pull and release the trigger it fires both, so you fire twice with 1 trigger pull…… you can go with the E-grip or response trigger, here is the trigger…..

Response trigger…. http://www.actionvillage.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=UYiuUVLwB-uu9RWbEyRu-Vg5GeeLQtNBUl0=?ProductID=YtmsFAY7r3YAAAD3H%2eylA_2s

You should replace the stock barrel, Tippmans stock barrels are not accurate at all, I reccomend a Custom Products, they are great….. go with a 14″

http://www.actionvillage.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/BrowseCatalog-Start;sid=UYiuUVLwB-uu9RWbEyRu-Vg5GeeLQtNBUl0=?CategoryName=paintball-paintball-barrels-custom-products-barrels-custom-products-classic-barrels-custom-products-classic-model-98-barrels

For a loader go with the Viewloader Revolution III…. feeds 23bps for only $ 59……

http://www.actionvillage.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=UYiuUVLwB-uu9RWbEyRu-Vg5GeeLQtNBUl0=?ProductID=wCvAqArbZeMAAAENwHjyddHu

For a C02 tank any will do….. for a mask get any that is Thermal, that means they will not fog on you…. you can get thermal ones for as cheap as $ 20…..

http://www.actionvillage.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=UYiuUVLwB-uu9RWbEyRu-Vg5GeeLQtNBUl0=?ProductID=Hf2sFAY7BbMAAAD3WEilA_2t
